About Khandua silk
Khandua patta is a GI-tagged ikat silk woven in Nuapatna and Maniabandha, two weaving centres in Cuttack district, Odisha. The cloth was traditionally woven for Lord Jagannath of Puri. Classic motifs include elephants, lions, the kumbha or temple shape, flowers and lines from the Gita Govinda. Small irregularities in weave or colour are a natural sign of handwork, not a defect.
Care
Dry clean only. Store the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture. Refold it every few months so the zari and folds do not crack. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari, and iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
