Occasions and styling
Suited to festivals, traditional gatherings, family functions and day events at work. A red blouse with antique gold jhumkas picks up the border, or try a blue blouse for a quieter look. Handloom cotton is light and breathable, so it stays comfortable through a long, warm day.
About Sambalpuri ikat
Sambalpuri weaving belongs to western Odisha, around Sambalpur, Bargarh and Sonepur, and Sambalpuri Bandha sarees and fabrics are GI-tagged. Bandha is the Odia name for tie-and-dye ikat. Classic motifs include the shankha (conch), chakra (wheel), phula (flower), rudraksha and the pasapalli check.
Care
Dry clean the first time, or hand wash it on its own in cold water with mild detergent, since handloom dyes can bleed a little. Dry in shade and iron on medium heat. Light starch helps the cotton stay crisp.
