Occasions and styling

Wear it for office, casual gatherings or a cultural evening. A black blouse with handcrafted silver jewellery suits the strong green and black contrast. As a cotton handloom saree, it is comfortable enough to wear often, not only on special days.

About Sambalpuri ikat

Sambalpuri weaving belongs to western Odisha, around Sambalpur, Bargarh and Sonepur, and Sambalpuri Bandha sarees and fabrics are GI-tagged. Bandha is the Odia name for tie-and-dye ikat. Classic motifs include the shankha (conch), chakra (wheel), phula (flower), rudraksha and the pasapalli check.

Care

Dry clean the first time, or hand wash it on its own in cold water with mild detergent, since handloom dyes can bleed a little. Dry in shade and iron on medium heat. Light starch helps the cotton stay crisp.
