A dark blue and light blue pure silk Pochampally Ikat handloom saree from Telangana, with bold white ikat diamonds and abstract motifs on the body and pallu, and a geometric border edged with fine golden lines. The two shades of blue make it a calm, versatile choice for festivals, family functions and evening events.

Design details

  • Body: Deep navy and sky blue pure silk with bold ikat diamond and abstract motifs in crisp white.
  • Border: Geometric ikat patterns framed by fine golden lines.
  • Pallu: Carries the white diamond ikat in a striking geometric layout.
  • Weave: Hand ikat, where the yarns are resist-dyed before weaving, so the motifs have softly blurred edges.
  • Blouse: Comes with an unstitched light blue blouse piece.

Occasions and styling

Wear it to festival get-togethers, family functions, office celebrations and evening dinners. The white motifs pair well with a light blue or ivory blouse and silver or pearl jewellery. For more contrast, try a navy blouse with antique gold jhumkas.

About Pochampally Ikat

Pochampally Ikat is a GI-tagged weave from Bhoodan Pochampally and nearby villages in Telangana. The yarns are resist-dyed in sections before weaving, so the pattern appears as the cloth is woven. A slightly blurred edge on the diamonds and chevrons is a mark of hand ikat.

Care

Dry clean only. Store the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture. Refold it every few months so the zari does not crack along the folds. Do not spray perfume directly on silk or zari. Iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
