Occasions and styling

Wear it to casual festive events, family celebrations or a cultural programme, or to the office in summer. A navy blouse with silver earrings and a pink bindi ties the colours together. Being cotton, it is easy to manage for a full day at work or on your feet at a family function.

About Sambalpuri ikat

Sambalpuri Bandha is the GI-tagged tie-and-dye ikat of western Odisha, woven in clusters around Sambalpur, Bargarh and Sonepur. It is made in both silk and cotton. Traditional motifs include the chakra (wheel), shankha (conch), phula (flower) and pasapalli, a chessboard check inspired by the game of pasa.

Care

Dry clean the first time, or hand wash it on its own in cold water with mild detergent, since handloom dyes can bleed a little. Dry in shade and iron on medium heat. Light starch helps the cotton stay crisp.
