About Sambalpuri weaving
Sambalpuri textiles are handwoven in western Odisha and carry a GI tag for Sambalpuri Bandha sarees and fabrics. Weavers tie and dye the yarns in sections before weaving, so the motifs form as the cloth is woven. Small irregularities in weave or colour are a natural sign of this handwork.
Care
For the first wash, dry clean the saree or hand wash it separately in cold water with a mild detergent. Handloom dyes may bleed slightly, so do not wash it with other clothes at first. Dry it in shade rather than in direct sun. Iron on medium heat, and use a light starch if you like the cotton crisp.
