A handwoven lemon yellow and magenta Kanjivaram saree in pure silk from Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, with small buttas on the lemon yellow body, a rich magenta temple border and an elaborate zari pallu. The bright yellow and deep magenta make it a classic choice for weddings, receptions, festivals and pujas.

Design details

  • Body: Vibrant lemon yellow with small buttas.
  • Border: Rich magenta temple border.
  • Pallu: Elaborate zari pallu.
  • Fabric: Pure Kanjivaram silk.
  • Handloom: Woven on a hand-operated loom by a weaver, so small irregularities in weave or colour are a natural sign of handwork, not a defect.
  • Blouse: Comes with an unstitched blouse piece.

Occasions and styling

This is a saree for weddings, receptions, festivals and pujas. A magenta blouse with zari work, worn with gold temple jhumkas and a choker, completes the look.

About Kanjivaram

Kanjivaram sarees are woven in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, and are GI-tagged as Kanchipuram Silk. They are made of heavy mulberry silk with zari. Traditionally the border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked with the body using the korvai technique, so they do not come apart. Temple borders are one of the classic Kanjivaram motifs.

Care

Dry clean only. Store the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture. Refold it every few months so the zari does not crack along the folds. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari. Iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
