About Khandua

Khandua silk comes from the weaving villages of Nuapatna and Maniabandha in Cuttack district, Odisha, and carries a GI tag. Its ikat motifs, such as kumbha (temple), flowers, elephants and lions, trace back to cloth woven for Lord Jagannath of Puri. Because Khandua is woven on a hand-operated loom, small irregularities in weave or colour are a natural sign of handwork, not a defect.

Care

Dry clean only. Store the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture, and refold it every few months. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk. Iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
