A handwoven parrot green Sambalpuri saree in pure silk from Odisha, with a magenta and black rudraksha border and a richly designed pallu. The bright green body and contrasting border make a lively combination for festivals, family functions and evening gatherings. It comes with an unstitched blouse piece.

Design details

  • Body: Vibrant parrot green.
  • Border: Magenta and black rudraksha design.
  • Pallu: Richly designed pallu.
  • Fabric: Pure silk, comfortable to wear.
  • Handloom: Woven on a hand-operated loom by a weaver, so small irregularities in weave or colour are a natural sign of handwork, not a defect.
  • Blouse: Comes with an unstitched blouse piece.

Occasions and styling

The parrot green brings energy to daytime festivals and family functions. Stitch a magenta blouse to match the border and add gold-plated bangles. Wear the pallu open so the rudraksha border frames the green body.

About Sambalpuri

Sambalpuri sarees come from western Odisha, from weaving centres in Sambalpur, Bargarh and Sonepur (Subarnapur), and carry a GI tag as Sambalpuri Bandha saree and fabrics. The rudraksha motif seen on borders sits alongside other classic designs such as shankha (conch), chakra (wheel), phula (flower) and pasapalli checks.

Care

Dry clean only. Store the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture, and refold it every few months. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk. Iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
