About Khandua silk

Khandua is an ikat silk woven in Nuapatna and Maniabandha in Cuttack district, Odisha, and it is GI-tagged. It was traditionally woven for Lord Jagannath of Puri and is also called Khandua patta. Traditional motifs include elephants, lions, kumbha (temple), flowers and lines from the Gita Govinda.

Care

Dry clean only. Store the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture. Refold it every few months so the zari does not crack along the folds. Do not spray perfume directly on silk or zari, and iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
