About Sambalpuri weaving

Bandha, Odisha's tie-and-dye ikat, is at the heart of Sambalpuri weaving from Sambalpur, Bargarh and Sonepur in western Odisha. The yarns are dyed in sections before they go on the loom, which gives each motif a slightly blurred edge, a mark of hand ikat. Sambalpuri Bandha sarees and fabrics are GI-tagged.

Care

Dry clean only. Keep the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth and store it away from moisture. Refold it every few months so any zari does not crack along the folds. Avoid spraying perfume directly on the silk, and iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
