About Gadwal sarees

The Gadwal saree is a GI-tagged weave from Gadwal, Telangana. Its border and pallu are interlocked with the body using the kupadam or kuttu method, often silk borders on a cotton or silk body. Temple borders and checks are common, and Gadwal sarees are a festive and wedding favourite.

Care

Dry clean only. Store the saree wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth, away from moisture. Refold it every few months so the zari does not crack along the folds. Do not spray perfume directly on the silk or zari, and iron on low heat with a cloth in between.
